My favorite day of the week!

as Ken Shallcross says;

Let these 3 scumbags be a reminder to parents that monitoring software like PC Pandora is essential in today’s Internet world. Thankfully no real minors were hurt here as far as we know – who knows who these guys got to prior to being arrested. These guys do exist and they are out there. Know what your kids are doing online and who they are talking to. Don’t be a passive and removed parent - be a powerful and effective one with PC Pandora.

A Stilwell, Okla., man planning to take his family on a summer vacation early Saturday morning was instead an inmate at the Crawford County Detention Center.

Less than four hours before he was scheduled to leave for the beaches of South Carolina, David Wayne Fuson, 34, was arrested for computer exploitation of a child, according to Chief Deputy Ron Brown of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.

Who’s Parenting Your Teen’s Online Social Behavior This Summer?

Friday, May 23rd, 2008

The World Wide Web is only limited by our imagination. Where is it going and what’s its capacity? And what’s the new Generation-Net going to be dealing with? Talk about a reality world… not everyone is who they say they are or has the best intentions.

“It’s up to parents to be there to explain,” says Leasure. “The first and last line of defense is and always will be at home, not on a social networking website with millions of world wide users.”

James Leasure is aware that the media warns us against the threats and dangers but, few parents are given the tools needed to monitor computer activity.

Who’s going to be at home this summer monitoring your children’s Internet activities? “There is no excuse for not knowing all aspects of what your child is doing on the Internet. Technology and monitoring software like PC Pandora plays a critical role in obtaining that knowledge. It allows you to be an effective 21st century parent by eliminating the guesswork.”

Stop Passing The Buck! Educate, Discuss, Protect…

Tuesday, March 18th, 2008

What a wonderful interview today with Ken Shallcross and his special guest Jewel, they shared their thoughts on the very controversial topic of how to monitor your child’s behavior on the internet…

Check out the live interview at: the CyberHood Watch radio show

This is something David and I are very passionate about and we are glad that Ken shared his thoughts and ideas of how their software can improve your skills as a parent, to deal with the enormous problems and eventual tragedies that can happen. When children make bad choices as far as using the internet, mobile communication’s, pda’s for texting, and the wrong way they invite the world in their world, by sharing private and personal information, then they may not be able to fend off trouble, before it happens to them… for example!

Take a look at the story found in the NY Times, titled: The Undercover Parent

PC Pandora has graciously agreed to giving all of our radio listers the opportunity to download and use their product, with a very special $10.00 OSA discount… please click this picture below!

Here are 2 of the highlight’s from Ken’s interview today...

1.) Provide our listeners with 7 top tips that will help parents and kids to be safe online.

  1. Educate yourself. Do research on the web. Know where your kids are going and whom they are talking to.
  2. Talk to your kids. Open communication. Talk about these three: predators, cyberbullies, and dangerous information to post online.
  3. Use monitoring software. Filters can be maneuvered around and may cause only stronger desire to go to forbidden sites. Monitoring gives more accurate knowledge of what they are up to.
  4. No computers in the bedroom!
  5. Google your child and yourself.
  6. Establish definitive rules that include approved surf times and full disclosure of accounts and passwords.
  7. Go private on all online accounts for under 18 users!

and…

8.) What is the one thing that if you could, you would change about the way the Government, (local, state, fed) Corporation, Businesses, Organization etc…, handles certain issues or the way citizens handle things in regards to protecting our children on the internet, against predators, pedophiles and human trafficking etc… what would that be?

Stop passing the buck! Stop instilling a false sense of security with press releases, agreements and partnerships that mean nothing.

I’m glad MySpace finally bucked up, but they did it only after several state AGs launched an investigation and basically called them out publicly. They also waited until after numerous incidents being publicly ousted linking sex predators using their site AND after a few suicides pointing to cyberbullying on the website. So, thanks for taking recognizing the problem… a few days late.

Also, age verification is a waste. The only way to truly identify is with a credit card or government issued ID/number (SSN or License, etc.) If it gets to the point where you have to enter your personal information to join a social networking site, this phenomenon will come to a dead halt.

Promote technology. Kids are using it – so should parents

Finally, local law enforcement: keep offering classes, seminars and informational meetings about the dangers; parents: please go to these meetings!!! To Read the rest of theses 8 questions or print go here: PC Pandora Interview
