Many WAHMs start a home-based businesses in order to care for their children while still creating an income. The desire to care for one’s own children, the incompatibility of a 9-to-5 work day with school hours or sick days, and the expense of childcare prompt many moms to change or leave their job in the workforce in order to be available to their children.

If this is you, then I congratulate you on your decision. Being there for your family and contributing to your household finances all at the same time is very rewarding. Don’t let anyone fool you into thinking its going to be easy. It can be simple but it won’t be easy. If it were easy almost every mom would be working from home.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed and lose focus. Losing focus will cause you to take no action. Action is very essential to moving from where you are now, to where you want to go.

I’m going to share with you 5 Tips For Staying Laser Focused When Starting Your Home Business.

1. Break down big tasks into manageable pieces:

If you have a large task at hand, it is always easier when you break it down into smaller manageable pieces. You’ll find it easier to focus because you won’t feel as overwhelmed. For example, ‘Register a business name’ can be broken down into: ‘Think of five business name ideas’, ‘Find out how to register a business name’, ‘Get registration form’ and so on.

2. Use and Keep A ‘To Do’ List:

Keep a “Things To Do” list and keep the items in priority order. Most people tend to do the things of a low priority first and never get around to the important tasks.

The best method for setting priorities on your list is once you have determined your major goals or objectives, is the A-B-C-D-E method. You place one of those letters in the margin before each of the tasks on your list before you begin.

“A” stands for “very important;” something you must do. There can be serious negative consequences if you don’t do it.

“B” stands for “important;” something you should do. This is not as important as your ‘A’ tasks. There are only minor negative consequences if it is not completed.

“C” stands for things that are “nice to do;” but which are not as important as ‘A’ or ‘B,’ tasks. There are no negative consequences for not completing it.

“D” stands for “delegate.” You can assign this task to someone else who can do the job instead of you.

“E” stands for “eliminate, whenever possible.” You should eliminate every single activity you possibly can, to free up your time.

When you use the A-B-C-D-E method, you can very easily sort out what is important and unimportant. This then will focus your time and attention on those items on your list that are most essential for you to do.

3. Schedule Your Time:
Every evening, decide on three to five tasks on your ‘to do’ list that you wish to accomplish the following day. Stay focused on these tasks and only move on to the next tasks on your list once these have been completed.
4. Set Goals:
There is nothing that will keep you more focused than setting goals and writing out your goals. See yourself exactly where you want to be in a month, six months and a year.
In a month’s time, do you want to have your advertising set up and have a fully functional home office? In three months time, how many clients or team members do you want? How much revenue do you want to generate in a six month’s time?

5. Say No:
To become a successful WAHM and creating your desired lifestyle, you will have to get comfortable at saying NO to all the people and distractions that would otherwise devour you. Successful WAHMs know how to say NO without feeling guilty.

Here are four questions to ask yourself in the arena of happiness.

“What would it take for me to be perfectly happy?”

Write down every single thing that you can imagine would be in your life if you were perfectly happy at this very moment. Write down things such as money, relationships, health, home, clothes, automobile, inner peace, travel. Let your mind run freely, imagine you have no limitations.

“What is holding me back?”

Be honest with yourself here. Think about what situations in your life, and with whom, are you not perfectly happy. Force yourself to think about every part of your day. Identifying unsatisfactory situations is the first step to resolving them.

“Where and when have I been the happiest?”

In looking over your life where and when have you been the happiest? Where were you and what were you doing? This question will help you determine what is of value to you in your life.

“What can you do immediately to start creating the life you dream of?”

Once you have the answers to the above questions, think about what you can do, starting today, to begin creating the kind of life you would like to be living right now. It may take a week, a month, or a year, but that doesn’t matter. Every single thing you do that moves you closer to your ideal vision will be rewarding in itself. You will become a more positive and optimistic person. You’ll feel more confident and more in charge of your life, and you’ll achieve peace of mind.

Invest 20 minutes at least every day to seeing yourself living that life you dream of. Feel how good it feels to be living that life and carry around that happiness with you everyday.

Remember happiness is not about what you get but what kind of person you become because of it.

How To Recognize A Legitimate Home Based Business

There are many legitimate Home Based Businesses out there, that’s the good news. The bad news is that unfortunately, there are also many that are just hype, smoke and mirrors, pyramid schemes or money games.

What I am going to share with you now is the key factors to look for when starting a home business.

key#1 Find a good mentor:

• Someone you can trust.

• Someone who has a system in place that you can duplicate to have the same results.

• Someone who already has the results you are looking for.

• Someone who is willing to listen to your needs and actually cares about your success.

Make sure he/she has a financial interest in your success.

Then make sure that he/she has duplication. Are there other people using his/her system and having success? Ask to be introduced to a few of them. You will find that this is where most will come up empty because they are leaving a trail of destruction and not success wherever they go. It’s a good idea to talk to someone only in the business a few months. These are the best people to tell you if what you are being told is the real deal.

key#2Evaluate the Products:

Make sure that the products being sold are legitimate stand alone products; products people would purchase without a business opportunity attached to it. Most network marketing and direct sales companies out there are built around the compensation plan and NOT a stand alone product. If what you are marketing is NOT a stand alone product, then you will have a hard time building a stable business. Ask yourself this question “does anyone buy these products just for the products and not to be part of the business?” “Are these products that people are already buying but somewhere else?”

Buy the product or products yourself. There are several reasons for this. If you aren’t willing to purchase the products for yourself then this is a big clue that you also won’t be able to make money marketing the products. So stay away from that business. If you don’t use the products you can’t really believe in them and will not be successful marketing it.

Also make sure there is a money back guarantee. This is required by law. Any purchase you make from your home you should have at least 3 days to review the product after you receive it to get a full refund. Make sure you ask. This really takes the risk out of the purchase. By the time you actually receive the products you have had time to see the company from the inside and will know if you have made a good decision.

Bottom line if the product has no value then it is a money game.

There are enough legitimate companies marketing legitimate products. Find one that feels right to you!

key#3Evaluate the Company:

Make sure that the company has a long term vision and is going to be financially stable as long as you are going to be marketing for it. Check for bad publicity If the company has a lot of bad publicity, it’s for a reason. Bad publicity kills companies quick. Every company is going to have some complaints, but look for a pattern of complaints.

Find out where the company’s corporation is located. Make sure the company isn’t hiding offshore in the Bahamas or Panama somewhere to keep out of reach of the attorney general. This is a sign of company’s true colors.

Find out how the company makes it’s money. I know that seems obvious, but THIS IS THE MOST CRITICAL INFORMATION YOU CAN GET. The company you are dealing with should only make money off the sale of the products then you can be absolutely sure that all the tools, training and support you require to be successful will be provided.

You can recognize this often by large monthly fees, such as a monthly charges for your corporate website. These are always self replicating websites that cost the company almost nothing to provide. So if there is a monthly charge for the websites then they are not focused on earning money from the sale of their products. Also if they are selling you leads, or have partnerships and alliances that are designed to line the company’s pockets with your hard earned money then they are making money without products being sold.

key#4Don’t get caught up in the hype:

Hype is very common in alot of Home Based Business Opprtunities. If you find a company that only emphasizes on their income potential, then that is a sign that their products are not even worth mentioning.

key#5Use common sense:

If someone is telling you for a $2,000 dollar investment you will be making thousands of dollars a week, they just want your $2,000 and are going to show you how to spend more money to make money. Bottom line is, you don’t need to spend thousands of dollars to get started in a legitimate business opportunity.

There are thousands of people who are making a six figure income today and invested no more than $400 to get started.

Learn to trust your gut:

If you feel good about what you’re doing. Great pursue it with everything you have. If you are leery and can’t get straight answers about products, services or systems, RUN! They aren’t telling you the whole story and only want your money.

You should be able to tell very easily if someone really does care about building a long term successful relationship with you or if he/she is just trying to sell you something. There are hundreds of scams out there. Beware. Many are cloaked in innocence and opportunity. Look closely.

Finally is what you are about to do something can be passionate about and would you be willing and eager to share it with others….?

If not how can you be successful if you lack the self confidence and pride in what you are doing. Do something meaningful and make what you do about “helping others”. Be proud and passionate and if you are using the right system, it will be impossible to fail.

What You Do Is More Important Than What You Know!

We frequently under perform in our life because we invest too much time in chasing the latest and greatest information and gadgets, and never apply what we already know.

Can you imagine for a minute, what your life would be like if you applied half of what you already know, on a consistent basis? My goodness, you would be in greater physical, emotional, spiritual and financial health.

I for one have spent time being like the frog who tries to catch every last fly - thinking that the next piece of information/program was going to be the nugget that was going to change my life. I came to realize that there will always be something new - heck information doubles about every 2.5 years now and it will only continue to accelerate.

Besides trying to learn it all in one area is tiring and overwhelming.

So what’s the answer?

For me, the answer is to simplify, simplify, and simplify some more, and to organize in an easy to use format, what I have learned.

Next step is to cut out the unproductive activities and time wasters. I choose to eliminate what wastes my time, money, and energy. In order to accomplish more we need to be selective in what we do with our time and to learn to focus on the task at hand.

Furthermore we need to apply the right activities, with the right resources, for the right results. We basically need to function with a CEO mindset.

You can achieve this with the help of a great personal and/or business coach - someone who has a 35,000 foot view and can help you cut through the C.R.A.P. - technical term for confusion, resistance, apathy, and procrastination.

So if you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and simply tired of trying to sort out through the maze of information that is out there - I recommend connecting with a great coach. You will be able with some help to regain a sense of harmony and control. You may even find yourself excited once again about your projects because you will have energy to invest.

One of the secrets to success with online marketing is writing a great ad. Many people think that writing an ad is more an art than science, the truth is that when you break an ad into it’s three components, ad writing becomes quick and easy.

Now let’s look at the purpose of your ad and then the three elements of what makes a great ad!

The purpose af an ad is simply to get the reader to take the next logical step, In most cases, you will want the reader to click to your website. The purpose of your ad should rarely be to sell the product.

There are three parts to a great ad.

1. The Headline
2. The Body
3. The Call To Action

Let’s focus on the headline first.

The headline is the most important part of your ad. This is the first thing they see and you have about three seconds to get people to stop scanning and read your headline. Once they pass it up, they won’t come back and read it. In light of this, your headline must grab attention while being honest to the rest of your ad.

Some people use sensational headlines with no relationship to their offer in order to grab attention. I don’t recommend this approach because integrity is what sells best long term.

Here are some ideas to write a great headline.

1. Help them immediately understand your offer.
2. Begin each sentence with an action word.
3. Use words like NOW,YOU,MONEY, or FEEL.
4. Create Curiosity.
5. Use All Caps In The Headline Only.
6. Ask a question.

Phsychologists tell us that there are only two things that motivate people to action. Those two are fear of loss and promise of gain. Whether these are the only two or not, they are certainly powerful and should be part of every headline. Appealing to ego works well too. People love to be forst on the block to own a new invention yet hate to take risks. Consider your audience before you choose how to motivate them.

Remember the headline is the ad for your ad.

To help you get a feel for what a great headline looks like, consider these samples. Each of these headlines has stood the test of time. Many of them are responsible for the sale of literally millions of dollars worth of products.

Is Your Day As Hectic As Mine? I Want To Know!

Im certain that other WAHM’S out there can relate to what I’m about to describe here. I have such action packed day’s. Sometimes I feel like slowing down, but then I imagine what my life would look like without my business and I totally flip.

My Home Based Business allows me to express the creative and entrepreneur spirit in me. I love being able to both raise my kids and build my business at the same time. And yes it does have it’s challenges but I wouldn’t change it for anything in this world. Please post a comment on my blog and let me know what your day is like. Let me know what you love about managing both a family and a home based business and what’s most challenging about it for you.

Here I go…..

It all starts at 7:00 am. I wake up with some hairs pointing north and the rest pointing east. I shower as quickly as I can because my 1 yr old starts knocking on the door yelling mommy. Wake up my three other kids and get them in the bathroom to brush their teeth.

Run downstairs and start breakfast, change my one year olds diaper, feed the crew, help them get dressed, fix their hair, pack them in the car and drop them off at school before 8:20 am.

Make breakfast for my husband and I and then kiss him goodbye. Clean up the kitchen after breakfast, turn on Elmo and let Jacob watch that for thirty minutes. I’m sitting in front of my computer by 9:00 am.

Get as much work done as I can. Between that time I have gotten up about 10 times because the little guy either needed a diaper changed, wanted to dring something or just got bored of playing and wanted me to play for a bit.

11:00 am Feed the little guy. If i’m hungry i’ll grab a bite to eat.

12:00 pm Put him down for a nap. Start making my phone calls.

1:50 pm Wake up Jacob and go pick up my three other kids at school.

2:15 I’m back at home and I prepare them a snack and chat about their day at school.

3:00-5:00 pm I try to get some more work done.

5:00 pm Start Dinner and sit them down to do their homework. This is where it really get’s crazy for me. Ofcourse cooking and helping with Homework is quite a challenge but somehow I get through it.

6:00 We eat dinner. Send them off to the shower. My husband takes over the little guy.

7:00 pm Clean up the kitchen.

8:00 pm Tuck the kids in bed and my husband and I say our prayers with them.
8:30 pm I am back at my computer. I follow up with possible business partners and attend any training calls I have or help my team with their business.

10:30 I’m off to the shower and ready for a good personal development book.

Tommorow I wake up and do it all over again:-)

Do you ever find it hard to get started on income producing activities first thing in the morning? Before getting to your most important tasks you find yourself reading emails, returning phone calls, checking you bank account balance and before you know it, half of your morning is gone?

Well, a great way to stay focused is to block an alloted time in the day where you focus on
responding to things such as emails, voicemails, balancing your checkbook.

You’ll get more done and avoid spending hours doing something non-productive.

finish the necessary work faster and then leave yourself more time for the “fun” tasks!

easy solution. Put on your voicemail when you’re available and when someone should
expect to hear back from you.

An example would be: “Hi, and thanks for calling. You have
reached the homeoffice of Ismary Leon, If you are calling between the hours or 9-11, I am working hard at building my business. Please leave me a message and I would be happy to return your call between 11-12pm.
Thanks, and have a great day”. Not only does this message let people know what you’re
doing, but it is very specific in when you’ll return the call.

Free And Cheap Ideas For Advertising Your Network Marketing Business

Here are some Free and Cheap Offline Ideas that you can use to Market your Network Marketing Business or any other business venture you have that requires you to advertise.

1. Put a sign, bumper sticker, magnet, car wraps, specialized art letterings, etc. on your car, your husbands/wife’s car, your friends car, parents car,cousins car and your cousins cousins car and put your elevator pitch on them. Use www.makestickers.com or www.makesigns.com

6. Make a list of 100 people who you know and present the idea to them, mail them a personal note describing your business, your expertise, and how you are different than the competition.
(2 sentences). Describe the type of customer you are looking for. Enclose a stack of business cards. If you have a referral program tell them how much they can get paid telling others about your services. Put a P.S. at the bottom of the letter, “I really appreciate you taking the time to look at this letter. Please let me know if you are able to post flyers and business cards at your work place or business, or even bulletin boards around town that welcome flyers.”

7. Send an email and or call the list of people, if you have more great, if not no problem. This is not the ideal situation I know but it’s YOUR business and if you really want it you will do whatever it takes to make it happen.

8. Use testimonials, if you don’t have any ask friend and people who know you to tell about your integrity and character, start with something and when you get more sales, have customers share product stories.

9. Join a local charity or non-profit organization and offer your product to be sold to the public as a way to raise money for the cause of the charity or non profit organization. This not only helps people but if your product is of value you will have many people looking for you to reorder more products.
p.s. make sure your products have your contact info written somewhere on them or hand out your contact info to the customers as they purchase.
