Why do I want to start a home based business? This blog post provides a brief overview of an article I wrote for new home based business entrepreneurs.  It provided the secret behind many home business failures, as well as a simple technique to use avoid being a work from home business statistic.

The basis of the article is this: Starting a work from home business for superficial reasons like, ‘To make more money’, - is a recipe for disaster.  That’s because every business venture will encounter obstacles and challenges.  If your reason for being in business is not bigger than the challenges you encounter - you will quit that business long before you reach the success you desire.

Compare the power of these next two examples against our previous reason of making more money:

  • “I am determined to make my work from home business a thriving financial success so we can easily afford to send our child to medical school because he wants wants desperately to become a doctor.”
  • “I’m determined to make my online marketing business a thriving financial success so my spouse can quit at job they hate and work from home with me instead.”

The technique used to discover your core inspiration involves digging deeply into your personal reasons and motivations behind wanting to be a home based business entrepreneur.

The digging process involves simply asking yourself a series of questions.  Example:
Question #1: Why do I want to start a home-based business?                                              Answer #1: To make more money
Question #2: What is important about earning extra money?                                 Answer #2: The extra money would help with Johnny’s College fund.
Question #3: Why is Johnny going to college inportant?                                                  Answer #3: Will Johnny lost his grandfather due to a heart attack and he is determined to become a doctor to help other families avoid the pain he experienced.
Question #4: How important is it to you to support Johnny and his achieving history?  Answer #4: Nothing is more important to me — nothing.

Okay, so the example is a little dramatic; but I think you’ll recognize that by crystalizing their inspiration that parent’s core inspiration they will be unstoppable as a home based business entrepreneur.  They will have a constant wellspring of inspiration to drawn from to transcend challenges and setbacks.  Agreed?

Take the time to drill down to your core desires and reasons to be a work from home business success and it will be worth its weight in gold.

Amazing Benifits for Every Household

Benefits from working from homeWe have come to believe that owning a work from home business is in the top five most important decisions an adult can make. Yes, it’s that important.

Being financially self-sufficient provides a person with a wealth of options in their life. The fact that so many people are dependent on another person or business to survive can’t help but leave a person - and that person’s family - vulnerable.

Loyalty for employees is long gone. It’s sad but I can’t say it’s businesses fault. Even Dr. Edwards Deming  (the American engineer that reinvented Japanese manufacturing after WWII) stated that a business’s first priority was to stay in business.

With foreign competition, company shareholders screaming for higher profits, etc., etc.; we must face the fact that our financial security is - and should always have been - in our own hands.

Aside from the genuine lack of JOB security, owning a work from home business offers a person so many benefits entire books are written about them.

Enormous savings on your taxes, the opportunity to grow as a person, the possibility to generate true Financial Independence, the freedom  to choose who you work with, and a chance to display your own unique self-expression to the world.

As far as we know we have one shot at life here on earth. If you agree with that than it stands to reason that we ought to strive to make it the best life we can imagine!

That means: Don’t rob from yourself! Design the ideal life for yourself and  go for it! Adopt the mindset that the journey is the reward and know that by starting your own work from home business you will have the opportunity to experience many of the lessons that make life extraordinary.

Your Most Important Step ?

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

You’re likely jazzed up about starting your home business. That’s great, we all start by reaching for the stars. We anticipate the thrill of the success we’ll enjoy, the money we’ll make, the fun we’ll have…

May I make a suggestion before you fall off a cliff ?

Stop and take the time to REALLY get clear on WHY you want to start your business. If your reason is just to make money, I can tell you right now you’re chances of succeeding are slim - so save your time and money.

Don’t misunderstand me; I believe that owning your own business is of paramount importance to enjoying a great life.

What I am saying is you need to did deep inside yourself to discover your core motivations for wanting this business. For example: If you are determined to earn enough money so your spouse can stay home to raise the kids you’ve begun to identify the kind of deep motivation you’ll need in running your own business.

Without this type of motivation - your ‘Big Why’ - you will quit your business when you encounter a big enough obstacle. The deeper you dig, the clearer your reasons, and the more of these reasons you can identify - the more unstoppable you will be.

For example: I was told a story about an man who’s wife needed and expensive operation right away. They had no insurance or savings to pay for it. This man started his first home business by joining an MLM company and within three months had made all the money needed to pay for her operation - about $25,000.00.

The strategy for digging down to your ‘Big Why’ reasons are simple - so simple many people don’t take the time required to get to the power. Failing to take the time to do this would be a fatal mistake to your business plans - like falling off a cliff.

Start by asking yourself why owning your own business is important to you. What will it provide you or your family? Take those reasons and dig deeper and get to the root of that ‘why’. Repeat this question and answer process over and over till your heart speaks to you - essentially saying, ‘that’s it’

Here’s an example of how the man I spoke of above MAY have dug down to find his ‘Big Why’: Why start a home based business? To make more money. Why do I need more money? To pay for my wife’s operation. Why is that important? Because I love her. Why else? Because she loves me and supports me in everything I do. Why else? Because she’s a wonderful mother, and our young children need her guidance and love. How important is it for you that your children have their mother in their lives? Hugely important - there’s nobody who will ever love my children like their own mother. Are you committed to making sure your wife will stay alive so your children can have her in their lives? Yes, I’m totally committed.

Now you’ll likely agree that no obstacle (like prospects rejecting him) would stop him from achieving his outcome.

You also have compelling reasons for wanting to succeed in your business. Dig into your heart and unleash the power that comes with discovering your core ‘Big Why’ reasons.

This exercise may prove to be one of the most important steps you ever take for succeeding in your won home based business.
